Igor Brilevich, Deputy Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, has been appointed by Valentina Matviyenko, Chairperson of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly Council and Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia, to coordinate the international observer group from the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly for the elections to the Kurultai of Kazakhstan, the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly told BelTA.
The observer group will include representatives of the parliaments of CIS IPA member states, CIS IPA officials, and experts from the CIS IPA International Institute for Monitoring the Democracy Development. The observers will monitor the elections at the invitation of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yermek Kosherbayev.
The first elections to the new unicameral parliament will be held in Kazakhstan on 23 August 2026.
