The agreement between the parties has been in effect since 2019. Previously, Uzbek delegations traveled across districts of Vitebsk Oblast, where agreements were reached on cooperation in livestock farming. Now the delegation from Kashkadarya Region is discussing large-scale cooperation plans. The visitors’ primary goal is to develop the agricultural sector, but their range of interests is considerably broader.
The Uzbek partners intend to expand their presence in the agricultural sector. Currently, they operate two enterprises in Shumilino District and Miory District. According to Shakhriyor Khamzayev, deputy mayor of the city of Karshi, the plan is to increase their number to ten and significantly expand livestock numbers to up to 20,000 head. To this end, in the coming days the delegation will visit five more districts of the region to assess sites for new facilities. They are also ready to cooperate in tourism and are paying particular attention to industrial cooperation. «Together with the Vityaz enterprise, we plan to launch production of a new type of TV sets, and a project is being developed to install 500 charging stations in Kashkadarya Region,» Shakhriyor Khamzayev said.
Vitebsk Oblast Deputy Governor Anzhelika Nikitina added that colleagues from Kashkadarya Region are interested in supplies of lumber and Belarusian food products. Currently, products from Verkhnedvinsk Butter and Cheese Factory and Belfood Production are being supplied to Uzbekistan. Supplies of products from Kashkadarya Region could also become a topic for discussion. The local enterprise Fruitreal is interested in receiving fruit and vegetable shipments from that country. Additionally, the creation of a Vitebsk—Karshi trade house is being considered with the Uzbek partners. Preparations are underway for the signing of a roadmap.
The delegation from Uzbekistan is headed by Shuxrat Muratov, deputy governor of Kashkadarya Region. The group includes representatives of ten companies that are fully ready to invest. The visit will last until 20 August.
