Vitebsk Oblast is deepening its ties with Uzbekistan’s Kashkadarya Region, as officials met with a visiting delegation at the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee, BelTA has learned.

The prospects for Belarus‑Uzbekistan interparliamentary cooperation were discussed on 10 August at a meeting between Chairman of the House of Representatives Igor Sergeyenko and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Belarus Nuriddin Mamajonov, BelTA has learned.

Belarus and Uzbekistan plan to expand customs cooperation, the press service of the State Customs Committee of Belarus told BelTA following a meeting between Chairman of the State Customs Committee Vladimir Orlovsky and Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Belarus Nurriddin Mamajonov.

Belarus and Uzbekistan are actively working to align their mutual interests, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said during narrow-format talks with Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on 9 July, BelTA has learned.

While some state-to-state relations are measured exclusively by trade figures and the number of signed documents, there are partnerships whose foundation cannot be quantified. Built over decades and tested by time, such ties gradually turn into a strategic asset. Cooperation between Belarus and Uzbekistan falls precisely into this category. Today, the two nations are bound not only by growing economic indicators, joint ventures, and investment projects, but also by a shared historical memory, a trusting political dialogue, and the understanding that sustainable development in the modern world is impossible without cooperation. The upcoming official visit of Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Belarus on 8–9 July is set to launch a new chapter in this partnership. Based on the latest data from the World Tourism Barometer published by UN Tourism, Uzbekistan has ranked among the top five countries with the highest growth rates in attracting foreign tourists from January to March 2026. The number of international visitors to the country increased by 37% compared to 2025, reflecting the country’s continued strengthening of its position on the global tourism stage.
